Plateau Stables is close to Mzimba, about three and a half hours from Lilongwe and One and a Half hour drive from Mzuzu. They are located about 12km off the M1 on a dirt road and very close to Luwawa Forest Lodge.

The vast area around the stables is beautiful riding country, with some spectacular views and indigenous trees.

This is the perfect place for a horse riding/outdoor activity weekend or holiday. Beside horse riding you can go hiking, bird watching, mountain biking and more.

We’ve got a great variety of horse breeds so we can find the best suited horse for all abilities. Beginners are welcome. Helmets are mandatory and these and all other apparel are provided.

Booking information:

Please make sure to check for availability and book your ride at least one day in advance. Our horses go out grazing quite a long way away but we will keep them at the stables for you if we know you’re coming. 

Prices:

The price is $50 per person per hour or Malawi Kwacha equivalent at the Victoria Forex Bureau cash rate. We take US$ or any other hard currency or Malawi Kwacha. You can pay by cash or bank transfer. We don’t have credit card facilities.

There is a 10% discount if you stay in our accommodation.
